The Department of one of the premere centres of Library & Information Science in the Country. Established in the year 1976, the Department has been inducted under DRS-SAP of University Grants Commission during the period (2002-07). It has achieved excellence in teaching and research in the field of Library and Information Science. Prof. K. C. Panda is the present Head of the Department. The Department imparts a two-years Masters Level Programme in Library & Information Science (MLISc), One-year Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) and Ph.D in Library & Information Science as regular course. It also conduct One-Year P. G. Diploma in Library Automation and Networking (PGDLAN) and One-Year P.G Diploma in Mass Communication & Journalism (MC&J) under Distance Education Mode.
